[interview] 3 Art question to Ilaria Pezone

Hello Ilaria, our Digital Pavilion is dedicated to the relationship between art and diversity and their perception in society. We propose some questions on the topic:

1 ) What's your take on the theme?

I believe that art and diversity are closely intertwined, as both art and being an artist imply the perception of diversity, which initially translates into a sort of difficulty in communication in a seemingly alien world, where integration is necessarily required to live in society. This difficulty leads to an effort to understand the rules of the world and to communicate one's own solutions. Essentially, I think art bears witness to this effort and attempt to interpret reality, which is therefore unique, different, precisely from all others.

2) In your opinion, what contribution does art make to sensitivity towards diversity?

Life itself is an authentic form of art if lived with this spirit in a natural way. I believe that art can certainly help understand diversities in every sense of the term. However, mere discussions and strictly content-based communications are not enough, neither to create art nor to be its spectators. I think what's necessary is an exercise of observation and listening free from preconceptions and limiting superstructures, even from those who consume it. This also means being able to live considering one's passage in the world and the presences close to us as a true work of art.

3) In your opinion, how do the diversities of the world provide inspiration and innovation to the world of art?

Since art is exploration, it always starts from something that comes from deep within ourselves. The goal we aim for in our exploration leads us to discover something different from what we already knew. Therefore, I believe that diversity and its exploration are fully part of the engine that drives the artistic experience.

Ciao Ilaria il nostro Padiglione Digitale è dedicato al rapporto fra arte e diversità e la percezione di esse nella società. Ti proponiamo alcune domande sul tema

1) Una tua idea sul tema ?

Io penso che arte e diversità siano strettamente connesse, in quanto già l’arte e l’essere artista implicano la percezione di una diversità, che si traduce inizialmente in una sorta di difficoltà di comunicazione in un mondo che pare estraneo, in cui necessariamente è richiesta un’integrazione, per poter vivere nella società. Questa difficoltà conduce a uno sforzo atto a comprendere le regole del mondo e a comunicare le proprie soluzioni. Penso che essenzialmente l’arte sia testimone di questo sforzo e di questo tentativo di interpretazione della realtà, che è quindi unico, diverso, appunto, da tutti gli altri.

2) secondo te quale il contributo che l'arte da alla sensibilità sulle diversità?

La vita è di per sé un’autentica forma d’arte se vissuta con questo spirito in maniera naturale. Penso che certamente l’arte possa aiutare a comprendere le diversità, in ogni accezione del termine. Non bastano tuttavia discorsi e le comunicazioni prettamente contenutistiche, né a fare arte, né a rendersene spettatori. Ritengo necessario, piuttosto, un esercizio di osservazione e ascolto privo di preconcetti e sovrastrutture limitanti, anche da parte di chi ne fruisce. Che poi significa anche saper vivere considerando il proprio passaggio nel mondo e le presenze a noi vicine una vera e propria opera d’arte.

3) secondo te come le diversità del mondo forniscono spunti e innovazione al mondo dell'arte

Essendo l’arte ricerca, si parte sempre da qualcosa che arriva dal profondo di noi stessi. La meta verso cui andiamo nella nostra ricerca ci porta a scoprire qualcosa di diverso da quello che già noi sapevamo. Pertanto credo che la diversità e la sua ricerca facciano pienamente parte del motore che muove l’esperienza artistica.
